Nirvrithi

Nirvrithi

This is one of the villas in Palakkad , restored home built in 1865, unique for that time, reveals a distinctive colonial face on the outside with prominent pillars . Arhes and a grand elevated sloping tile roof, the inside was defined by the daily needs and agricultural lifestyle of the Gounders – with minimal rooms and large undefined spaces for storage.

Experience Colonial Charm

Each level of the restored block has been turned into a suite designed for a complete home experience. Moreover, the expansive and airy open verandas around the living quarters on both floors offer the opportunity to laze with a book, be immersed in music, or enjoy quiet meditation. In addition, the bedrooms, with 2 ft. thick soundproofed walls built in 1865, are slumber niches. Once snuggled in, it is often a challenge to get out of them. Furthermore, the living spaces within each block transform into a library, work studio, or a private lounge bar as you choose. Additionally, the open courtyard with its lily pond and landscaped surroundings could be your personal yoga sanctuary. Finally, each level has its own climate-controlled bedroom, living space, verandas, and en-suite bathroom.

Culinary Experience at the Villa

Passionately driven by their love for and understanding of great food, the hosts, Ria and Joseph, explore local ingredients and traditions to serve up imaginative, tasty and nourishing fare. Their menu will offer preparations made from locally sourced ingredients obtained from their own farm as well as those from the region. Dining

Passionately driven by their love for and understanding of great food, the hosts. Therefore, explore local ingredients and traditions to serve unimaginative, yet tasty and nourishing fare. Additionally, their menu will offer preparations made from locally sourced ingredients obtained from their own farm, as well as those from the region. For Joseph and Ria, food is not just a passion; instead, the couple takes joy in preparing a wide range of cuisines, from Indian to Italian. Moreover, the ingredients grown on their farms, such as pumpkin, tomatoes, and chillies, are an essential part of their dishes, along with the cream cheese, mascarpone, and ricotta made at home from locally sourced, unpasteurized milk. Consequently, Joseph highly recommends his slow-cooked lamb, cheesecakes, and tiramisu. Furthermore, Ria’s panna cotta and pasta are a must.

Activities

On any one evening of your stay, there will, indeed, be artistic performances at Nirvriti. Specifically, these shows offer the rare opportunity to witness the performing arts of Kerala in quiet and intimate settings. Furthermore, they include classical Indian music featuring flute, percussion, and vocals, as well as dance recitals that encompass the famed kathakali or mohiniattam styles by local artists. If desired, one can, moreover, request an informal interactive session with the artists to know more about their craft and traditions before dinner.

Chittur is filled with pleasing landscapes, small settlements, and attractive old buildings; indeed, many of them have a long history. Additionally, the region is also home to a rare mix of people and communities practicing unusual vocations that, while they go back in time, have continued to this day.

Furthermore, experience the special character of this region’s geography and socio-economic culture that, notably, originated in the deep past.

Today, Agraharams are fast disappearing to make way for bigger, swankier apartments and modern houses. Moreover, with the younger generation migrating to cities or other countries across the world in search of jobs, Agraharams now stand alone with only memories of an interesting way of life. In addition, urbanisation has made the performance of elaborate rituals shorter; consequently, this reflects a marked change in contemporary lifestyle that can no longer be adapted to the Agraharam and its community. Furthermore, privacy is valued a lot more today; therefore, common walls are a source of discomfort, and common wells are no longer in use. As a result, every household opts to have their own plumbing systems.

We’ll start with an introduction to Kerala’s diverse culinary traditions; in particular, we will highlight the unique flavors, ingredients, and cooking techniques that define the region’s cuisine. Furthermore, you’ll learn about the importance of coconut, curry leaves, spices, and other key ingredients in Kerala cooking. Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or a culinary enthusiast looking to expand your repertoire, our cooking class at Nirvriti promises an unforgettable culinary experience filled with flavors, aromas, and memories to treasure. Ultimately, get ready to embark on a culinary adventure through the vibrant tastes of Kerala!

Our experiences

Art performance

The performing arts of God’s Own Country have a special pull and connection amongst all audiences. Indeed, on stage or by the road, the setting is never the primary attraction. rather, what steals the spotlight is the artists on stage with their movements, make-up, and storytelling. For centuries, they have colourfully presented great epics and acted as a mirror on the state of society, providing their ever-so-subtle social criticism. Consequently, they are important pillars of our heritage. Therefore, below we have listed some of the finest performing arts prevalent in Kerala.

Parambikulam wildlife sanctuary

The wildlife sanctuary, which had an area of 285 square kilometres (110 sq mi), was established in 1973. Specifically, it is in the Sungam range of hills between the Anaimalai Hills and Nelliampathy Hills. Moreover, Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary was declared as part of the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve on 19 February 2010. In addition, including the buffer zone, the tiger reserve has a span of 643.66 km². Furthermore, the Western Ghats, Anamalai Sub-Cluster, including all of Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, is under consideration by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for selection as a World Heritage Site. Notably, the sanctuary is the home of four different tribes of indigenous peoples, including the Kadar, Malasar, Muduvar, and Mala Malasar, settled in six colonies.

Tales from the loom

Handloom weaving was a common economic activity in this region until, as recently as the beginning of the millennium. Moreover, like most social vocations, this was practiced only by certain communities. Specifically, the ones settled here originated from other parts of present-day Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, whose ancestors moved to this region in search of work. Furthermore, many of these original families were directly employed by the royal court and nobility of the time.
